In June 2007, AMM joined the Federal Formula Grant Coalition and will work with numerous national, regional and state organizations to pursue substantially increased federal funding for museums through a formula grant program (modeled after the library grant program) as part of the IMLS reauthorization in 2009. If authorized, funds would be distributed by IMLS to state agencies for regranting to museums. It's a bold, historic initiative that will require leadership and wide-spread support. We encourage you to learn more about the initiative, consider joining the Coalition, and to contract Congress to ask them to support Federal formula grants for museums.
